BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bison overwhelmed the Richmond Braves yesterday for the second straight night, putting up big numbers in the middle innings of their 16-3 win.
Buffalo has taken the first two games of the four-game series by a combined score of 26-5.
The game was scoreless through three innings, but the Braves scored in the top of the fourth on a solo, two-out home run by first baseman Scott Thorman.
The lead, however, was short-lived. In the bottom of the inning, Buffalo left fielder Jason Cooper, batting ninth, hit a bases-loaded double to score two. Shortstop Jorge Velandia and designated hitter Michael Aubrey added a run apiece with a single and a sacrifice fly, respectively, off Matt DeSalvo, who had replaced starter Anthony Lerew in the second inning.
The Braves cut Buffalo's lead to 4-3 in the top of the fifth inning, but the Bison scored three runs in the bottom of the inning, then added four more in the next for an 11-3 advantage.
