TOPIC: How the Times-Dispatch covers politics

WHEN: Tuesday, March 18, 2008, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Do you want to know how the Richmond Times-Dispatch covers the General Assembly? Are there questions you'd like to ask about political reporting?

Those will be the topics of tomorrow night's News Roundtable, the first one of the year.

"At the Richmond Times-Dispatch, we take seriously our responsibility to cover state government and politics because we know that readers all over the state are depending on us," said Glenn Proctor, the newspaper's vice president and executive editor. "Our aim is to explain what's happening in a way that the average citizen understands as well as to hold elected officials accountable to Virginia taxpayers."

Because this is a presidential election year, it's even more important to hear from readers about political coverage, Proctor added.

This will be the third year the newsroom has hosted the roundtables, which give readers a chance to discuss with Times-Dispatch journalists how the newspaper reports on certain topics.

Proctor will moderate tomorrow's program, which will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in The Times-Dispatch's offices at 300 E. Franklin St. Parking is available in the company parking deck, which has an entrance on Third Street between Grace and Franklin streets.
