A former Spanish teacher at Colonial Heights Middle School was found guilty yesterday of having sex with a minor.

Leonardo Brenes, 42, also faces charges in Prince George County of taking indecent liberties with the same 17-year-old girl he had sex with and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Brenes allegedly had sex last August with the Colonial Heights High School student in both localities while he was coaching a girls soccer team for the school.

He was arrested and charged by Colonial Heights authorities in December.

Colonial Heights Commonwealth's Attorney William B. Bray said he is working closely with Prince George authorities on the case. Brenes is scheduled to appear in Prince George Circuit Court on Sept. 4.
