A Henrico County man facing trial on bomb making, gun and drug charges accepted a plea agreement yesterday.

During an appearance in Circuit Court for pretrial motions, William R. Hedgepeth II instead pleaded guilty to charges of possession of a sawed-off shotgun, possession of explosive materials and/or devices and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The drug charge was a reduction from the initial charge of possession of marijuana.

"It was an unexpected resolution to this situation," said Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Amy Totten.

Hedgepeth, 21, was arrested in January and has been in custody since.

Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 14.

A message left for Hedgepeth's lawyer was not returned last night. -- Zachary Reid
