The College of William and Mary's campus was quiet yesterday after an anonymous threat of violence.
The school stepped up police patrols, rescheduled some activities and took other preventive measures, said W&M spokesman Brian Whitson. Anna Martin, vice president of administration, sent an e-mail message Friday to students, faculty and staff members, alerting them to the threat.
The threat indicated there would be violence in the vicinity of the Sadler Center today. Whitson said he could not release details because the case is under investigation. Campus police, the FBI, state police and local law-enforcement agencies are investigating.
Sadler is a large multipurpose center behind the football stadium. Whitson said anyone who sees something unusual or has information should call (757) 221-4596. -- Rex Springston
